(Construction) - On July 13, Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi chaired a conference to appraise the master plan on construction of Sa Pa National Tourist Area - Sa Pa town, Lao Cai province to 2040.
At the Conference, the members of the Appraisal Council added some ideas to complete the Project. On behalf of the local leadership, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Trinh Xuan Truong explained some important contents. On that basis, President Trinh Xuan Truong affirmed that the development of Sa Pa National Tourist Area by 2040 will create legal frameworks and resources to solve problems of tourism planning, urban planning and living space for ethnic minorities.

Concluding the conference, Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi affirmed that Sa Pa has made rapid progress in recent years to contribute to the growth of Lao Cai and the whole country. Therefore, the Minister emphasized a number of contents that Lao Cai province should pay attention to complete the Project. In which, the general requirement would continue to review the Project closely to the content of the planning tasks approved by the Prime Minister; clarify the synchronization with other master plans such as provincial planning, sectoral planning; preserve and promote the characteristics of Sa Pa, especially landscape, environment and traditional cultural values; review challenges in the development process such as climate change and so on.
Regarding specific requirements, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee should pay attention to limit compression development in the core zone, reduce pressure on the urban core area of Sa Pa; ensure tourism infrastructure; review the forecast of the number of tourists, the number of accommodation establishments; strictly control land planning criteria; note the possibility to link Sa Pa with other regions; develope tourism products; research specific solutions to solve technical infrastructure problems such as water supply, waste treatment, wastewater, cemeteries.
