    (Construction) - Osaka-based amusement park developer Senyo Kogyo broke ground to construct aerial gondola transportation system in Minato Mirai, Yokohama. It is designed by Yamashita Sekkei while offshore works are undertaken by Toa Corporation and station buildings by P.S. Mitsubishi Construction.

  • New station on JR Yamanote in Tokyo

    (Construction) - East Japan Railway completed the news station in Minato-ku, Tokyo called “Takanawa Gateway Station”on JR Yamanote Line and Keihin Tohoku Line. The station building is made of 630,000 m3 domestic produced timber on pillars and walls along with the steel frame. The building is characterized by its traditional Japanese features such as the origami-like roof of white membranes. The heat reflecting membranes can bring natural lights and reduce energy consumption for the lighting.

  • Japan grant HCM City to upgrade sewer system

    (Construction) - According to JICA, HCM City and the Japanese Government on Friday signed an agreement for non-refundable aid worth JPY1.882 billion (US$16.84 million) to upgrade the city’s existing sewerage system using trenchless technologies.

  • Japanese develops heavy duty drone for construction site

    (Construction) - Tokyo-based air mobility startup SkyDrive begun development of a heavy-duty cargo drone which can deliver goods and equipment to construction sites. The firm and construction company Obayashi jointly launched testing to demonstrate the capability of the drone carrying 30kg construction materials by autonomous driving. Pre-orders have been accepted since December 2019.
