(Construction) - Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi participated in the Vietnamese high-level delegation, led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and accompanied by his ladyship, to attend the G20 Summit and conduct various bilateral activities in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from November 16 to 19. Following this, he paid an official visit to the Dominican Republic from November 19 to 21.

On the afternoon of November 21, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi held talks with Carlos Bonilla Sánchez, Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings of the Dominican Republic. The discussions focused on exploring areas of mutual interest and identifying key cooperation initiatives, with plans to implement future collaborative activities in the construction sector between Vietnam and the Dominican Republic.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi stated that the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction aims to strengthen specialized cooperation in areas such as construction, housing development, and the production of construction materials. Additionally, the Ministry seeks to promote collaboration between construction enterprises of both countries by exporting competitive Vietnamese construction materials to the Dominican market. Plans also include investing in construction materials production in the Dominican Republic to supply the local market and export to neighboring regions, as well as exporting labor and undertaking construction projects in the country. The Ministry further envisions fostering delegation exchanges, expert exchanges, and sharing experiences within the construction industry.
Highlighting the strengths of Vietnamese construction enterprises, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi emphasized that these companies are increasingly focusing on exporting construction materials, investing in production, and undertaking construction and installation projects. Notably, Viglacera Corporation - JSC has successfully implemented two investment projects in construction materials production and industrial park infrastructure in Cuba. The Ministry of Construction is committed to continuing the expansion and strengthening of cooperation within the construction sector with partners across Latin America, including the Dominican Republic.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi affirmed that the meeting and discussions between the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings of the Dominican Republic today will serve as a crucial foundation for determining areas of mutual interest and establishing an action plan for future cooperation in housing development and construction materials production. This will promote collaboration between construction enterprises from both countries and make a significant contribution to enhancing the comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and the Dominican Republic.
During the meeting, the Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings of the Dominican Republic urged the specialized units of both sides to promptly work together to implement the proposals and exchanges discussed, and to soon sign the Cooperation Agreement between Vietnam and the Dominican Republic, particularly in the field of construction. The Minister emphasized the importance of implementing specific activities to further strengthen bilateral relations.
