(Construction) - On November 6, Deputy Minister of Construction Phạm Minh Hà welcomed Austrian Ambassador to Vietnam Philipp Agathonos and an Austrian business delegation exploring the Vietnamese market and potential cooperation in green building development, water supply, drainage, and wastewater treatment.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Phạm Minh Hà emphasized that the Ministry of Construction is prioritizing key initiatives in the sector, including the drafting of significant legal documents such as the Law on Water Supply and Drainage, the Law on Urban Development Management, and the Law on Architectural Planning. The Ministry is also focused on green building standards, energy efficiency, and climate change resilience.
During a working session with the Ministry of Construction, Dietmar Schwank, the Commercial Counselor of the Austrian Embassy in Vietnam, introduced Austrian companies specializing in clean water supply, drainage, and wastewater treatment. He highlighted the significant opportunities for collaboration between Vietnam and Austria on projects in areas of shared interest.
At the meeting, representatives from several Austrian companies showcased their advanced technologies, covering a range of sectors: smart urban development, energy transition, climate and environmental management, transportation, urban infrastructure, construction materials, clean water supply, wastewater treatment, biomass energy, urban waste management, and waste-to-energy production.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister Phạm Minh Hà emphasized that Vietnam’s rapid urbanization has created a strong demand for clean water supply, wastewater treatment, and urban waste management. He affirmed that the Ministry of Construction encourages foreign investment in these critical areas of the construction industry.
The Deputy Minister also expressed hope that Ambassador Agathonos would work with the Austrian Government to broaden cooperation beyond the topics discussed at this meeting. He designated the Technical Infrastructure Agency as the main contact within the Ministry to coordinate with the Austrian side on shared areas of interest, thereby turning them into practical, actionable projects..
