(Construction) - Recently, the Ministry of Construction convened a meeting to review the key objectives of the Project “Developing modern coastal urban areas and ecologically modeled urban areas with green growth, smart integration, and sustainable tourism development, resilient to climate change by 2030, with a vision to 2045”.
During the session, Dr. Architect Phạm Thị Nhâm, Deputy Director of the National Institute for Urban and Rural Planning (VIUP), delivered an overview of the process behind establishing the Project objectives.
Representing the research team, Dr. Architect Nguyễn Trung Dũng delivered a report outlining the Project focus areas. Key points included: the role of coastal urban systems as drivers of socio-economic growth in Vietnam; the necessity, scope, target groups, and timeline for the Project; the current situation, potential, opportunities, and challenges in developing coastal cities across the country; and the Project perspectives and objectives. He also covered the key tasks, solutions, and organizational methods for implementation.

Meeting participants shared ideas to enhance the Project tasks, including integrating certain work contents, redefining the Project scope and target areas, and clarifying resource requirements. Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyễn Việt Hùng directed the VIUP to incorporate feedback from delegates and experts, particularly focusing on urban space, technical infrastructure, and coastal urban areas. He also requested the integration of existing Ministry of Construction initiatives on green, ecological, and smart urban areas, as well as sustainable materials and technologies into the Project. The VIUP was tasked with continuing research to finalize the Project tasks for reporting to the Minister of Construction.
