During the discussion, Venezuelan Minister of Population and Housing Ildemaro Villaroel expressed his honor in welcoming Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi and the delegation to Venezuela. He also conveyed his admiration for Vietnam, acknowledging its heroic and remarkable development journey.

Minister Ildemaro Villaroel said: Venezuela is currently in a phase of economic development, with a particular focus on the construction sector, especially in the realm of housing development for its citizens. In 2024, Venezuela aims to complete the construction of 500 thousand social housing units nationwide. This endeavor requires the integration of advanced technologies, including prefabricated housing methods.

Over the past decade, Venezuela has achieved significant success in constructing over 4 million social housing units, with the goal of soon reaching 5 million units. In parallel, Vietnam has initiated a program to develop 1 million social housing units between 2021 and 2030. As of 2023, 499 social housing projects have been implemented, comprising more than 400,000 units. Consequently, Vietnam is eager to glean insights from Venezuela's experiences in social housing development.

Regarding business cooperation, the Ministry of Construction consistently extends its full support and encouragement to Vietnamese enterprises seeking to foster cooperation with Venezuela. Among the delegates on this mission is Viglacera Corporation, Vietnam's largest manufacturer of construction materials. Vietnamese side earnestly hope that the Venezuelan authorities will afford Viglacera due attention and facilitate its entry into the market, fostering trade cooperation and investment opportunities.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi emphasized to underscore the significance of this meeting between the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and the Ministry of Population and Housing of Venezuela, as it serves as a pivotal foundation for advancing collaboration in the housing sector. Moreover, the two sides discussed potential cooperation in the petrochemical and glass industries. These three sectors represent areas of substantial promise for mutual development and for nurturing the robust bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Venezuela.
