(Construction) - Within the framework of the 41st Session of the Vietnam-Cuba Intergovernmental Committee in Havana, Cuba, from April 11-15, 2024, Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi and the Vietnamese delegation held discussions with Cuban Minister of Construction Rene Mesa Villafana, as well as representatives from Cuban construction units and businesses.

The meeting between the two Ministers of Construction of Vietnam and Cuba aimed to discuss the results of cooperation in the field of construction and planning in the coming time. Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi affirmed: "Regarding cooperation in the field of construction, in the past year, the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and the Ministry of Construction of Cuba have exchanged delegations, information, and experiences on industry management and development. We have discussed solutions to support and enhance practical cooperation between construction enterprises of the two countries."
At the meeting, Vietnamese businesses investing in Cuba also shared their investment results and proposed solutions to promote effective investment cooperation in the spirit of mutual benefit and profit. Cuban Minister of Construction, Mr. Rene Mesa Villafana, highly appreciated the results and efforts of Vietnamese businesses investing in Cuba.
Minister Rene Mesa Villafana also affirmed: The cooperation agreement signed between Dinvai and HUD has brought Cuba construction consulting contracts in Vietnam that are very meaningful in the context of many difficulties and challenges. It has helped maintain the operations of Cuban businesses in Vietnam. In fact, the Cuban Construction industry has participated in cooperation and been present in Vietnam for more than 30 years. Currently, Cuban businesses also participate in 2 road projects in Vietnam, however by the end of 2024 the projects will end.
Minister Rene Mesa Villafana also emphasized: "With the contribution of more than 14 thousand engineers and experts in the fields of planning, housing, urban areas, and transportation, it lays the foundation to contribute to the development process with good results that the Cuban revolution has brought about. Despite facing many difficulties, our experts and engineers are always up to date with international standards. Therefore, we hope that both sides can exploit the potential and strengthen cooperation between Cuban and Vietnamese construction enterprises."
Regarding cooperation with functional units of the Ministry of Construction, both sides can organize discussions to generate ideas and propose issues for potential cooperation. Cuban Minister of Construction Rene Mesa Villafana affirmed his commitment to always accompany and be ready to cooperate with and assist Vietnamese businesses in their investment and cooperation efforts in Cuba.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi agreed with Cuba's new cooperation proposals. He hoped that in the near future, the Cuban Minister of Construction and the delegation will soon come to work in Vietnam, including a survey and exchange with Dong Nai province. In the coming time, functional units and businesses of the two ministries will have discussions to handle specific issues and implement the contents agreed between the two sides.
