(Construction) - On February 7, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tuong Van had a meeting with the World Bank (WB) Delegation led by Ms. Maria Angelica Sotomayor - Water Practice Manager, East Asia and Pacific Region at The World Bank.

At the meeting, Ms. Maria Angelica Sotomayor highly appreciated the effective cooperation relationship between the World Bank and the Ministry of Construction over the years and emphasized that in 2017, the Minister of Construction and the World Bank Country Director in Vietnam had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Sustainable Infrastructure and Urban Development Partnership to create the sustainable infrastructure and urban development partnership phase 2017-2021.
The visit and work of the WB Mission to the Ministry of Construction this time aimed to further strengthen the cooperation relationship between the two sides based on mutual interest, especially building and completing institutions and policies on capacity building of water supply, drainage and wastewater treatment in Vietnam.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Tuong Van highly appreciated the attention, cooperation and support of the World Bank to the Ministry of Construction in recent years, especially in the fields of technical infrastructure development and urban water supply and drainage.
In the spirit of the wish to further strengthen the cooperation relationship between the two sides, Deputy Minister Nguyen Tuong Van and Water Practice Manager, East Asia and Pacific Region at The World Bank Maria Angelica Sotomayor jointly agreed to appoint focal points exchanging and establishing specific working programs in order to urgently finalize the proposal of the Law on Water Supply and Sewerage and related contents.
