(Construction) - On June 21, in Hanoi, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in sustainable urban development in Vietnam had been signed between the Urban Development Agency and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO (Switzerland).

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Construction Le Quang Hung highly appreciated the support and cooperation of SECO with the Ministry of Construction over the years. From 2008 up to now, Vietnam has been a priority country to receive in SECO's cooperation strategy.
SECO's development cooperation strategy in Vietnam for the period 2017-2020 has concretized under three goals, including promoting sustainable urban development, adapting to climate change, focusing on the management of urban areas, urban development planning and management. SECO has supported Vietnam to perform well in a number of projects.
Embassy of Switzerland in Vietnam, Mr. Werner Gruber, said that Vietnam and Switzerland have had a good relationship over the years and have many cooperation in urban sustainable development in Vietnam.
The MOU was an opportunity to strengthen the cooperation between the two sides. The Ministry of Construction will play an important role in working with other ministries to ensure the smooth coordination and achievement of cooperation goals.
The Swiss Development Program Project in Vietnam will contribute to the good implementation of the Politburo's Resolution 06-NQ/TW, the National Urban Development Strategy and the Prime Minister's Decision 438/QD-TTg Prime Minister.
The Project will support authorities to address major urban challenges, focusing on the ability to respond to urban climate change in a more systematic and sustainable manner.
