GGGI has engaged in numerous collaborative initiatives with the Ministry of Construction in the realm of green growth, exemplified by projects like "Converting Low-Carbon Construction Projects in Vietnam," supported by the Climate Initiative Board (IKI) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection of the Federal Republic of Germany.
According to General Director Frank Rijsberman, the two parties can collaborate on several vital topics, including integrated planning for sustainable urban development, securing financial resources for green development, and urban waste management. These represent pivotal areas for advancing green urban development in Vietnam. Moreover, GGGI is actively implementing various green growth projects in localities such as Ha Tinh, Can Tho, and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, encompassing endeavors related to waste management and transportation. GGGI collaborates closely with the private sector and proposes to incorporate these initiatives into the Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Construction.
Sharing at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Tuong Van expressed high appreciation for the collaboration between the two parties in implementing the project "Converting Low-Carbon Construction Projects in Vietnam." The Ministry of Construction is supportive and committed to directing its units to enhance coordination for the project's implementation with utmost efficiency. The Ministry of Construction also looks forward to GGGI's support in realizing the broader objective of constructing green cities in Vietnam, including the drafting of legal documents in this field.
To effectively fulfill the aforementioned tasks, Deputy Minister Nguyen Tuong Van concurred that the two sides should review the expired Memorandum of Understanding and incorporate new cooperation elements. Specifically, the International Cooperation Department is tasked with reviewing the contents of the Minutes. Additionally, the Deputy Minister proposed that both parties explore opportunities to expand cooperation with other countries on green growth, green urban areas and green buildings.
