(Construction) - The government of Japan and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations revealed the official logo and catchphrase to commemorate the 50th anniversary of their friendship and cooperation in 2023.
The logo mark is designed to resemble a ribbon with 10 bundles of rice representing the member countries of ASEAN that wrapped around the Hinomaru, Japanese flag. The catchphrase is "Golden Friendship, Golden Opportunities.” With signs of economic recovery from the pandemic of COVID-19, the logo and the catchphrase were created to express the hope that the friendship between ASEAN and Japan will deepen, and that ASEAN will once again have the opportunity to shine in the international community and economy. The logo mark and catchphrase will be used in commemorative events and exchange programs to be held next year.
The announcement was made at the ASEAN-Japan Foreign Ministers' Meeting held on August 4th in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. “Celebrating the anniversary, we would like to continue to work closely with ASEAN to further develop ASEAN-Japan relations," Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi said at the meeting.
