(Construction) - On April 26, the delegation of the Ministry of Construction led by Deputy Minister Le Quang Hung had a working session with the People's Committee of Kon Tum province to inspect earthquakes affecting construction works in the area.

The delegation inspected the sites of the Thuong Kon Tum Hydropower Plant and civil construction works in Kon Plong district, which was affected by the earthquake; met with Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee to discuss and suggest solutions to ensure the safety for local construction works.
On the basis of reports and opinions at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Construction Le Quang Hung commented that from the measured data of earthquakes and the impact of earthquakes on the works, the earthquake intensity at Kon Plong were not serious.

In order to have a basis assessing the earthquake situation, the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Science and Technology should install more monitoring systems to be able to complete the earthquake measurement network in the area as a basis monitoring the earthquake in the near future.
Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee, as a management role of local dam safety, should soon request the dam owner to calculate and inspect the dam safety on the basis of earthquake values announced by the Institute of Geophysics to have incident response plans.
The Provincial People's Committee should cooperate with the Institute of Geophysics in propagating and guiding people to handle situations when earthquakes occurred. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will consider and study to assess the possibility of occurrence of irritating earthquakes in environmental impact assessment reports.
The investor of Thuong Kon Tum hydropower plant should review the procedures related to the operation and power generation of the units, the immediate response measures should be done related to the effects of earthquakes on the power plant. the basis of the auditing results of the design consultantancy.
