(Construction) – On May 12, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Construction and the French Development Agency (AFD) signed a cooperation agreement on the cooperation between two sides to support Vietnamese cities enhancing the resilience and adaptation to climate change and natural disasters.

Speaking at the event, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi expressed his hope that, via this signing, the Ministry of Construction and AFD would continue to strengthen the practical and sustainable cooperation relationship in the fields of urban development management, climate change adaptation, green planning, greenhouse gas emission reduction, low carbon, green growth, green building, energy saving, capacity building and institutional improvement policies in urban development, improving the resilience and adaptation of Vietnamese cities to climate change...
According to AFD Global Managing Director, Mr. Philippe Orliang, AFD has been present in Vietnam since 1994, since then a very positive cooperative relationship with Vietnam through more than 100 projects that have been implemented. At present, AFD fully orients its activities towards implementing commitments of the Paris Agreement on climate change.
Also at the ceremony, Ambassador of the French Republic to Vietnam, Mr. Nicholas Warnery highlighted that, France wished to support the Vietnamese Government in implementing and concretizing its commitments in specific local projects, so that the Vietnamese people can benefit from these commitments.
