(Construction) - On October 23, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam held a National Conference to unite thoroughly and implement Resolution No. 24-NQ/TW of the Politburo, on October 7, 2022. on socio-economic development and assurance of national defense and security in the Southeast region to 2030, with a vision to 2045, in the direct and online forms.

At the conference, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi presented the report on "Urban development in the Southeast region". Here were the brief of Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi.
The Southeast region has an urbanization rate of 67.3%, the highest among socio-economic regions of the country. The Minister noted that after 17 years of implementing Resolution No. 53-NQ/TW of the Politburo in 2005 on socio-economic development and assurance of defense and security in the Southeast region and the Southern Key Economic Region, the Southeast region have made strong development steps, achieved many important results in socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security.
In addition to the positive results achieved in the past time, the Southeast region also faced many difficulties and challenges that limited the potential, strengths and urban development. The interprovincial transport infrastructure (road, railway, inland waterway) had not been synchronously invested.
In order to well perform the tasks of urban development in the Southeast region according to Resolution No. 24-NQ/TW, the Ministry of Construction determined that it was necessary to organize the synchronous implementation of tasks from planning and development orientations to prioritize the investment and development of urban infrastructure and housing, exploit the advantages to develop synchronous infrastructure, apply smart solutions in parallel with research, complete policy institutions.
Regarding housing development policy, social works, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi assessed: The demand for housing, especially social housing in the Southeast region was the largest in the country. Therefore, it was necessary to include the indicators on housing development, the compulsory norms 5 years on social housing development and annual socio-economic development of the provinces in the region.
Regarding to the investment, development of urban infrastructure systems, smart and modern cities, research and implementation with focus on cities, by 2025, it will complete urban standards on urban infrastructure, especially infrastructure in health, education, training and urban-level cultural works of urban centers of grade III or higher.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi emphasized: In the coming time, implementing Resolution No. 24-NQ/TW of the Politburo, the Ministry of Construction will closely coordinate with other ministries, branches and localities in the region to continue researching and completing the policies and laws on related issues.
