(Construction) - On September 6, Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi had a meeting with Mr. Khalid Abel, Qatar Ambassador to Vietnam to strengthen the cooperation and exchang experiences in the fields of construction and infrastructure.

The Ambassador assessed that the cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Qatar has developed increasingly in recent years. In November this year, the King of Qatar will pay a government visit to Vietnam. The visit will open up many cooperation opportunities in many fields, therefore the Ambassador hoped that the two sides could sign Memorandum of Understanding to promote stronger cooperation.
Mr. Khalid Abel assessed that at present, it could be the right time for Qatari businesses to learn about the Vietnamese market, and at the same time, Quatar also would like to encourage Vietnamese businesses to invest in their country. In this situation, the Memorandum of Understanding will play a very important role in promoting the cooperation between the two sides.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi agreed with the contents proposed by the Ambassador. The Minister was impressed with Qatar's successful hosting of the 2022 World Cup, thereby showing the synchronization and modernity of the infrastructure system that Vietnam really would like to learn.
In the coming time, the Minister proposed that the two sides would coordinate closely to promote cooperation activities among businesses and relevant agencies of the two countries in the Construction industry. Through this, Vietnam really wants to learn from Qatar's experience in developing infrastructure and construction techniques. The Minister assigned the Department of International Cooperation to be the focal point to promote the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with Qatar.
The Minister expressed his hope that Embassy of Qatar in Vietnam would continue to pay attention to create favourable conditions for promoting the cooperation among the Ministry of Construction and relevant agencies of Qatar.
