The exterior of the Japan Pavilion combines the "arabesque" patterns used in Islamic architecture with the image of origami to express the connection between the history of the Middle East and Japan. The designer is Dentsu Live. Yuko Nagayama Architects and NTT Facilities are participating as chief architectural designers. UAE-based Obayashi Middle East, a group company of Obayashi Corporation, constructed the building.
