Hundreds of specialized transportation cost standards to be issued in the first quarter of 2024

(Construction) - On February 19th, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Construction Bui Hong Minh and Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Duy Lam co-chaired the second inter-ministerial working group meeting to implement Directive No. 02/CD-TTg dated January 9, 2024, of the Prime Minister.

The focus of the discussion was on resolving difficulties and obstacles related to construction standards, unit prices, as well as the exploitation and supply of construction materials for key transportation projects and national importance.

Overview of the meeting

The Inter-ministerial Working Group was established to synchronize the directives of the leaders of both ministries with a spirit of seriousness and urgency to resolve difficulties and obstacles in the process of implementing investment in key transportation projects of national importance.

At this meeting, the Working Group of the two ministries focused on assessing and implementing the tasks. Regarding the results of task implementation in the past period, the report of the Inter-ministerial Working Group stated that, for the Ministry of Construction had issued documents to submit to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to request the implementation of tasks related to the announcement of prices for construction materials, labor prices, machine and equipment rental rates, and construction price indices in accordance with the law, avoiding situations that prices were not fully disclosed, not timely, or did not reflect market fluctuations, which may cause difficulties in establishing, managing, and implementing construction contracts...

At the meeting, under the serious and urgent guidance of Deputy Minister of Construction Bui Hong Minh and Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Duy Lam, and the exchange of opinions and discussions among the members of the Working Group, the leaders of the two ministries assigned tasks to the Working Group to implement several key tasks in the upcoming period.

The Working Group tasked with reviewing and proposing to relevant agencies the issuance of new construction standards, amendments, and additions within their jurisdiction based on practical principles to ensure honesty, objectivity, transparency, and suitability with the market. This aimed to prevent losses and wastage in construction investment.

Deputy Minister of Construction Bui Hong Minh emphasized: “In the first quarter of 2024, hundreds of standards will be issued, which have been researched and developed by the Institute of Construction Economics (Ministry of Construction) and are currently under review by the Department of Construction Investment Management (Ministry of Transport) and the standards that have been reviewed by the Department of Construction Investment Management will be submitted for opinions to the Ministry of Construction”
