(Construction) - On the evening of April 26, in Hanoi, Vietnam Urban Planning Association (VUPDA) held a ceremony to award the First National Urban Planning Award.
The National Urban Planning Award was established by VUPDA, with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry to honor the authors who are architects, planners, urban managers, businesses, construction contractors, social organizations, people have made outstanding contributions in the process of urban planning and development.

2018 is the first year the National Urban Planning Award is awarded. From hundreds of projects, publications and organizations and individuals participating in the competition, the National Council of Urban Planning Awards for the first time decided to award 64 prizes, including 03 Special prizes, 14 Gold prizes, 10 Silver prizes, 19 Bronze prizes, 01 A prize, 03 B prizes, 6 C prizes, 4 Outstanding outstanding titles and 04 Excellent titles.
On the basis of the Gold Award, the National Urban Planning Awards Council reviewed a number of additional criteria such as prominence, efficiency, social appreciation and decided to award the Special Prize to 3 projects. These are projects of organizing the walking space of Hoan Kiem Lake and surrounding areas invested by Hoan Kiem District People's Committee; The complex of Sheraton Grand Danang Resort is invested by BRG Group JSC; Vinpearl Nam Hoi An is invested by Vinhomes JSC.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Minister Pham Hong Ha congratulated organizations and individuals who had the honor to win prizes at the First National Planning Award. The Minister commented: “In urban development achievements, there is a great contribution of urban planning. Urban planning is always one step ahead, an important base in the development, urban embellishment, investment management and investment attraction, rational exploitation and use of natural resources and land. and resources; Contributing to environmental protection, cultural heritage, preserving historical and natural landscapes, preserving and promoting the national identity. Urban planning has developed strongly and achieved many important achievements ”.
The Minister expects the National Planning Award to become more and more quality which attracting more attention of the social community for urban planning and development; encourage the development of new urban models such as green, ecological, sustainable, smart, climate change adaptation and becoming a prestigious National Award.
