Continuing the implementation of the Project to construct at least 1 million social housing units

(Construction) - On February 22nd, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Construction organized a national conference to deploy the Project "Investment building at least 1 million social housing units for low-income earners, industrial park workers in the period 2021 - 2030" in 2024. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha attended and directed the conference.

In the opening remarks at the conference, Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi stated: "This conference holds great significance and practical importance for evaluating the implementation process of the Project in the past, identifying difficulties, challenges, determining solutions to overcome them to accelerate the implementation of the Project in 2024, in the context where the Project has been approved by the Prime Minister and has been put into implementation with many expectations and hopes.

“The conference aims to listen to the opinions, responsibilities, and suggestions, proposed solutions from delegates and representatives of central and local agencies to perceive, comprehensively evaluate the situation of implementing the Project in the past period, and propose solutions as a basis for ministries, sectors, localities, and businesses to continue effectively implementing their tasks”.

Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi stated at the event.

In his directive speech at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized that ministries, sectors, and localities should consider the implementation of the Project to build at least 1 million social housing units for low-income earners, industrial park workers as a crucial political task. This was a matter of ensuring welfare, providing warmth and sustenance, meeting the legitimate needs of the people, thereby fostering innovative approaches, overcoming difficulties, and accelerating implementation.

To achieve this, the Deputy Prime Minister requested state management organizations to carefully review and apply the newly passed Land Law by the National Assembly and related legal documents to create a rigorous legal framework for implementing the social housing project. Social housing areas must be closely linked to a comprehensive infrastructure system to facilitate residents' settlement.

In the concluding remarks at the conference, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi stated that the Ministry of Construction and relevant ministries, sectors, and localities would earnestly perceive the specific and comprehensive directives of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, set details for these directives during the implementation process of the Project, especially in achieving the goals for 2024.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi requested that relevant ministries, sectors, localities, and businesses strictly and resolutely implement the tasks of constructing at least 1 million social housing units for low-income earners, industrial park workers. This included focusing on resolving difficulties and obstacles within their authority to ensure the implementation aligns with the objectives and development plans for social housing, aiming to complete the goal of constructing 130,000 social housing units in 2024. Furthermore, it was essential to enhance legal policies, especially guidelines for the implementation of Land Law, Housing Law, and other relevant documents.
