(Construction) - On May 8, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tuong Van chaired a conference to appraise the General Planning Task for the construction of the Chi Ma border gate area, located in Loc Binh district, Lang Son province until 2045, at a ratio of 1/5,000.

Contributing comments to the General Planning Task for the construction of the Chi Ma border gate area, the representative of the Department of Planning and Architecture (Ministry of Construction) requested the People's Committee of Lang Son province to review the legal basis for appropriate planning in accordance with legal regulations. The representative of the Ministry of Planning and Investment requested clarification on the assessment of the current status of the border gate area. The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the general planning for construction of the Chi Ma border-gate area should be consistent with the border gate planning on the Vietnam - China land border in the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
The representative of the Ministry of National Defense proposed supplementing specific documents of Lang Son province to implement Decree No. 34/2014/ND-CP on Regulations on land border areas of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The representative of the Ministry of Public Security noted that the planning process should ensure the protection of security and defense secrets. The representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development requested a review of data on import and export turnover. The representative of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposed supplementing the assessment of tourism development potential and identifying monuments and landscapes in the general planning area of the Chi Ma border gate.
Standing Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee, Duong Xuan Huyen, accepted the comments of the Appraisal Council and emphasized that the Prime Minister has issued a Decision allowing the Chi Ma border gate to apply the Economic Zone policy of border gates and upgrade the Chi Ma border gate from a secondary border gate to the main border gate.
Concluding the conference, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tuong Van assessed that the Chi Ma border gate area plays a crucial role in the socio-economic development of Lang Son province and the Northern Midlands and Mountains region. Therefore, comprehensive planning is essential to leverage specific policy mechanisms.
The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of closely adhering to the content of the decisions approved by the Prime Minister. He stated that determining the boundaries of the general planning area for the Chi Ma border gate is pivotal in deciding whether specific mechanisms and policies should be applied to this region. Consequently, the Deputy Minister urged the People's Committee of Lang Son province to explore the establishment of a border-gate economic zone to implement priority policies for such zones.
