ADB will support the pilot construction of a smart city in Vietnam, while the Ministry of Construction is entrusted to represent the Smart Urban Construction Project in Vietnam.

Currently, Vietnam is building institutions and regulations on smart urban planning. However, Deputy Minister Nguyen Tuong Van affirmed that Vietnam still needs to learn international experience and seek support resources to pilot a specific urban area, before finalizing the institutions.

In addition, the Ministry of Construction also wishes that ADB to support the development of smart urban development management planning and investment management regulations for smart cities. ADB Country Director in Vietnam Eric Sidgwick noted that the staff of ADB's smart urban development team will soon arrange to work with units of Ministry of Construction about the matter raised.

On the Ministry of Construction's side, the Urban Development Department proposed to organize a conference to review, evaluate and officially hand over the results of the implementation of the National Urban Development Strategy project with the participation of experts including ADB, representatives of Ministry of Construction, Departments and related ministries. The conference is expected to take place later this month. The Deputy Minister assigned the Urban Development Agency to work with ADB in the coming week to unify the plan of organizing the conference to review, evaluate and hand over the project results.
