Urbanization in Vietnam responding to emerging challenges of climate change, natural disasters and epidemic

(Construction) - On November 8, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Construction, Vietnam Urban Forum, Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association - VUPDA) and Vietnam Association of Cities jointly organized a conference “Urbanization in Vietnam responding to emerging challenges of climate change, natural disasters and epidemic”.

The conference was in the form of online to celebrate Vietnam Urban Day. At the event, Deputy Minister Le Quang Hung affirmed that the conference was an opportunity for the parties to exchange and share experiences on the urban sustainable development, contributing to the realization of Vietnam's socio-economic development strategies in the period of 2021 - 2030.

Delegates in the conference

Representatives of domestic and international agencies and delegates presented their presentations, exchanged practical lessons and comprehensively identified the emerging challenges of climate change and pandemic in the process of urban development; introduced adaptive solutions for reconstruction and urban development, disease prevention, and stabilization of socio-cultural development in localities.

In addition, the delegates also contributed ideas to build and renovate Vietnam's urban areas to withstand the impacts of natural disasters and epidemic; point out solutions to promote and invest in smart city after the pandemic, support sustainable urban development, forecast and suggest ways to limit the impact of climate change or increase strengthening urban adaptability in the Mekong Delta…
