(Construction) - On August 30, Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi welcomed and worked with Cuban First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Gerardo Penalver Portal on many contents to focus on the official visit to Vietnam by the Prime Minister of Cuba in September and the 40th meeting of the Vietnam - Cuba Intergovernmental Committee in November 2022.

Sharing at the meeting with Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba Gerardo Penalver Portal said that the main purpose of this visit to Vietnam was to prepare the contents for the official visit to Vietnam by Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz at the end of September 2022. This would be the first visit of the Cuban Prime Minister outside of Latin America, therefore choosing Vietnam as the first stop in Asia was very important.
Deputy Minister Gerardo Penalver Portal noted that recently, the Cuban government has issued many new guidelines and policies to encourage and create favorable conditions for foreign businesses to increase the investment in Cuba. In particular, Vietnam is the leading country in Asia with many investment projects in Cuba. Also at the meeting, Cuban First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Gerardo Penalver Portal expressed his wish that the two countries could restart cooperation projects that were being interrupted during the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. .
In conclusion of the meeting, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi agreed with the opinions of Cuban Deputy Minister Gerardo Penalver Portal. The Ministry of Construction will continue to perform its responsibilities to promote the development of cooperative relation in the fields of interest to the two countries. The Minister also hoped that the ministries and branches in Cuba would pay attention help and create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest, trade and produce in Cuba.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi assessed that the upcoming visit of the Cuban Prime Minister will be an opportunity to elevate the traditional friendship between the two countries and open up new cooperation opportunities. Therefore, the Ministry of Construction will closely coordinate with the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam and relevant agencies to make good preparations and create the best conditions for the official visit of the Cuban Prime Minister and the 40th meeting of the Vietnam - Cuba Intergovernmental Committee.
