(Construction) - On October 10, in Hanoi, Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi had a meeting and worked with Finnish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Antti Kurvinen.
At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi said that Vietnam was always interested in water supply and drainage issues, actively looking for existing solutions to meet people's needs in the context of climate change. Over the past time, the Ministry of Construction has coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in studying solutions on water supply and drainage in urban and rural areas; advising the Government to ensure safe water supply and prevent water loss. The Minister believes that this working session will be an opportunity for Vietnam and Finland to continue promoting cooperation in a practical and effective manner on issues of mutual concerns.

In responding to Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Minister Antti Kurvinen said that the Finnish side fully agreed with the cooperation proposed by the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam. The Ministry of Construction was an important partner of Finland in matters related to the water topics, so Finland was always ready to share management experiences and concretize cooperation activities with Vietnam.
Minister Antti Kurvinen emphasized that 2023 would be an important milestone when Vietnam and Finland to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. The two sides will continue to strongly promote cooperation in the fields of economy, politics and trade. At the same time, the Minister also said that Vietnam and Finland both have many opportunities for cooperation in the fields of agriculture, forestry and renewable resources.
Regarding to the climate change, Minister Antti Kurvinen said that this had been a global issue, directly affecting the specifics of the industry that both ministries managed. Through this cooperation, Vietnam and Finland will find suitable solutions to solve existing problems as well as identify new areas of cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi affirmed that cooperation between the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland will continue to have new developments. The Ministry of Construction will create favorable conditions for Finnish businesses to invest and do business in Vietnam.
In addition, both ministries have agreed to review and prepare to sign a memorandum of understanding in the near future. This would be the basis for the exchange and cooperation between the Ministry of Construction and the Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to become more specific, practical and effective.
