(Construction) - A Manchester, UK-based architectural design firm BDP which joined Japanese engineering consulting company Nippon Koei Group in March 2016, is stepping up its business in the Asian market.
Integrating the Nippon Koei's track records with BDP's advanced design capabilities, the firm is undertaking several design projects in India and Bangladesh. The company aims to further expand its earnings by using their local offices in India, China, and Singapore as a foothold.
BDP specializes in the design of commercial facilities, offices, and medical institutions. In January 2017, Nippon Koei received an order of the Bach Dang Harbor Park Development in Ho Chi Minh City, a transport infrastructure project in Vietnam, and BDP was in charge of landscape and architectural design. The two companies, which have strengths in architecture and civil engineering respectively, joined forces to create a synergy in urban development along the Saigon River.

Most recently, BDP's Indian studio designed the station building for the Dhaka Metro Development Project (MRT No. 5 North Line) in Bangladesh, which was awarded to a group of seven companies including Nippon Koei. BDP has also received orders for the Yangon Ring Road 3 Station Development and the Water Conservancy Information Center, both of which are currently underway in Myanmar.
President of Nippon Koei Ryuichi Arimoto said at the financial result announcement, "We expect to be able to cover the loss of revenue due to Brexit," and "will strive to strengthen orders for design projects, especially for BDP." (2021/03/18)
