(Construction) - Japanese construction company Hazama Ando has been monitoring the health condition of site workers by smart watches which can detect illness and prevent heat strokes. The device collecting workers’ vital data alerts the employees who are working in a hot and humid environment. The company has introduced the technology at two sites of theirs and is considering to expand more.

The system is an improved version for construction workers of the health monitoring system "Safe NAVI" developed by Tokyo-based IT service company HOYA Digital Solutions. It consists of the smart watch, temperature and humidity sensors installed at various locations at the site, and the cloud storage aggregating data.
The system centrally manages the work environment and physical condition of the wokers in real time and stores vital data such as heart rates measured by the smart watch, the location and the environmental data on the cloud server.
The system can comprehensively judge the work status from the data and encourage the wearers to take breaks and hydrate. If workers feel sick, they can call for help by touching the help button on their smart watch. (2020/08/26)
