On October 19th, a memorandum of understanding was exchanged at the Prime Minister's Office of Vietnam in Hanoi. The cooperation period is from October to March 2023. The ministry hopes to take advantages of the partnership as a foothold to support the business development of Japanese companies in Vietnam.

The memorandum was exchanged during the summit meeting between Japan PM Suga Yoshihide and PM of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc. The MoU was signed by Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan Yasuhiro Okanishi, and Deputy Minister of Transport of Vietnam Nguyen Ngoc Dong, .

MLIT is conducting technical studies at research institutes in both countries based on the "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Formulating National Technical Standards for Port Facilities in Vietnam" in March 2014. Design, construction, and maintenance standards that comply with Japan's port technical standards have been established in the country. In the future, based on the new memorandum, the two countries will cooperate in establishing standards for breakwaters, dredging and reclamation work. (2020/10/26)
