Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh receives Deputy Minister of MLIT of Japan

(Construction) - On October 29, 2019, at the headquarter of the Ministry of Construction, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh had a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan (MLIT) – Mr. Hideki Hirai on smart city development in Vietnam.

Overview of the meeting

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Hideki Hirai expressed his thanks to Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh for taking the time to welcome and work with the MLIT mission, and expressed his delight at the cooperation between the two ministries in recent years.

Summary of some results of the Japan-ASEAN Smart Cities Network Summit held in early October 2019 in Japan, Deputy Minister Hideki HIRAI said, the next Network Meeting will take place in Vietnam in 2020. The resentatives of ASEAN countries will meet to discuss solutions for smart city development in Southeast Asian countries. The two sides will exchange, discuss and agree. the necessary content for the conference to take place successfully.

Overview of Vietnam urban development in recent years, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh said that the Government and Ministry of Construction of Vietnam are very interested in building and developing smart cities. In 2020, as the Chairman of ASEAN Smart City Network, Vietnam is actively developing plans for programs and activities next year. It hopes that in the coming time, Vietnam will receive the Japanese assistance and efficiency in developing smart cities, including the development and improvement of policy institutions, especially the system of standards and regulations related to smart cities.
