(Construction) - On November 24, the Ministry of Construction held a conference to appraise the proposal for recognition of Kon Tum city, Kon Tum province as a grade II urban area. Deputy Minister of Construction Le Quang Hung chaired the Conference.
At the Conference, the members of the Council contributed many ideas on the contents of planning research related to the fields of natural resources, environment, investment, finance, industry and trade, planning, transportation. transport, culture, tourism, agriculture, defense, security....

Besides, in the opinion of Council members, in order to develop and better promote the potential and advantages, Kon Tum city should continue to invest in construction and urban development according to the master plan, urban development programs, step by step building cities to meet new requirements; instead of choosing a relatively equal investment direction as at present, the city should focus on exploiting the potentials and strengths of the locality; focus on building ecological urban areas with the identity of the Central Highlands region.
Concluding remarks, Deputy Minister Le Quang Hung suggested that the People's Committees of Kon Tum province and city should notice the opinions of Council members, have a roadmap to solve outstanding issues and follow up with Resolution 06-NQ/TW of the Politburo on planning, construction, management and sustainable development of urban areas in Vietnam until 2030, with a vision to 2045; have a plan to complete the necessary standards; strengthening urban management, training to improve the quality of urban management staff; orienting the future development.
The Appraisal Council voted to approve the project to recognize Kon Tum city, Kon Tum province as a grade II urban area and would submit it to the competent authorities for approval.
