Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Sinh affirmed that the cities always play the important role of the driving force for socio-economic development of each country. With this conference, the countries together updated the situation of smart urban development in each country and exchanged action plans to achieve the goals set out in building and developing smart cities.
Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan (MLIT) Ishihara Yasuhiro presented JASCA's recent activities. The representative of the Japanese Government Office shared about Japan's successful practical experiences on smart cities.
Based on the achieved results, the MLIT proposed a number of smart urban development solutions based on the challenges faced by each country. At the end of the meeting, the signing ceremony of 4 Memorandum of Understanding between ASEAN cities and Japan, including 2 in Makassar (Indonesia), 1 in Bangkok (Thailand) and 1 in Phuket (Thailand).
